Milton Patton stole the hearts of country music fans everywhere when he sang his way into the final round of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” in 2013. Since then, the now 23-year-old self-described “Arkansas country boy” has been playing shows, writing songs and self-producing his first independent CD release.

“I had a lot of music industry people coming at me after AGT,” Milton said. “But they had their own ideas of what I should sound like, with a bunch of rap and strange stuff. They thought because I’m a black man I should just jump on the latest country music trend. But what I really like is the classic country sound, just good solid songs and catchy tunes.”

Most country music fans are hungry for a return to the honest homespun sound of a well written, well sung song, Milton says. “It can have a new twist on it with production as long as it’s thoughtful and tasteful. And my material mixes some blues, rock even a little old-school Memphis — it’s the authentic Arkansas country blend. But the main thing is you can’t deny a good song, and that’s where I’m coming from.”
