October 2026- June 2027: Leadership Muskogee is a community leadership development program that seeks to inform, motivate and increase community awareness and involvement of its participants through seminars and interaction with community decision makers. Graduates from this nine month program gain the leadership skills necessary to work effectively toward the growth and development of Muskogee.

2025-2026 Leadership Muskogee Class 32 Sessions:

October 9-10: Orientation

Leadership Muskogee Class 32 kicked off with their 2-day orientation session! The 34 participants navigated through team-building exercises, professional development and True Colors. We are looking forward to watching this group grow over the next 8 months.

November 13: Economic Development Day

Leadership Muskogee Class 32 wrapped up their Economic Development Session!

Throughout the day, participants gained valuable insight into the growth and opportunities shaping our community. They heard from the City of Muskogee, Port Muskogee, Visit Muskogee, and the Oklahoma Small Business Development Centers, and even toured the Dal-Tile plant.

We’re proud of this class and excited to see how they continue using these experiences to lead and uplift Muskogee!

December 5: Education Day

Leadership Muskogee Class 32 took part in our Education Session. The day opened with insightful conversations led by education leaders from Muskogee Public Schools, Fort Gibson, Hilldale, Muskogee County Head Start, Connors State College, Northeastern State University, and ICTC.

In the afternoon, the class toured the Connors Nursing Simulation Lab and the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center, gaining valuable firsthand perspectives and unique learning experiences.

January 8: Health & Wellness Day

Leadership Muskogee Class 32 spent the day focused on Health & Wellness, gaining valuable insight into the resources and services that support a healthier community. The day kicked off with Kyle Price from Paradigm Shift Leadership, setting the tone for meaningful conversations around personal and professional well-being.

The class then met with John Lindsay from Green Country Behavioral Health Services, where he spoke about the importance of mental wellness and the critical services they provide to the community. Participants also toured the new gym and outdoor exercise space designed to support holistic health. The morning continued at Muskogee Swim & Fit with Kevin Anthis, highlighting the role of fitness and recreation in overall wellness.

The day concluded at Saint Francis Health System with an in-depth look at their impact on community health, finishing with a tour of the new tower.

February 12: Non-Profit Day

Leadership Muskogee Class 32 spent the day diving into the impactful world of non-profits during this month’s session, gaining a deeper understanding of the organizations that serve and strengthen the Muskogee community. Participants heard from an insightful panel representing a variety of local non-profits, including CASA for Children, Inc., Lake Area United Way Oklahoma, Fostering Hope of Muskogee, Kids’ Space, Muskogee County Child Advocacy Center, and Kelly B Todd Cerebral Palsy & Neuro-Muscular Center

The class also learned about the meaningful work being done by Neighbors Building Neighborhoods and the Martin Luther King Community Center highlighting the diverse ways these organizations meet critical needs across the area.

To wrap up the day, participants had the opportunity to tour Muskogee Little Theatre and the Gospel Rescue Mission OK, seeing firsthand how mission-driven leadership and community partnerships make a lasting difference. It was an inspiring day of learning, connection, and appreciation for the non-profits that help Muskogee thrive.

March 25: State Government Day

Muskogee Leadership Class 32 had an exciting and impactful State Government session!

The group spent time at the Oklahoma State Capitol for Muskogee Day at the Capitol, connecting with state leaders and learning about how state government affects the Muskogee community.

The class also visited OKC RIVERSPORT Rapids, experiencing firsthand one of the nation’s premier destinations for outdoor adventure, rowing, and paddle sports for all ages. As a U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Site, RIVERSPORT continues to attract top athletes from around the world and hosts major national and international competitions in rowing and canoe/kayak.

Did you know? RIVERSPORT Rapids, Oklahoma City’s whitewater center, will serve as the official Olympic venue for canoe slalom and kayak cross during the LA28 Olympic Games, an incredible point of pride for our state!

April 19: City & County Government Day

Leadership Muskogee Class 32 got an inside look at how our local and federal government works during their City-County-Federal Government session. The day kicked off with an engaging leadership session led by Kyle Price of Paradigm Shift, setting the tone for a day focused on public service and community leadership.

The class had the opportunity to hear from U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Wilson, gaining insight into the role the justice system plays in keeping our communities safe as well as the ATF. They also visited the Muskogee County Assessor’s Office, where County Assessor Ron Dean shared how property assessment impacts local services and growth.

Participants toured the Muskogee County District Courthouse, giving them a firsthand look at where many important county decisions take place. The day wrapped up with a deep dive into city government, where the class even had the chance to take part in a mock City Council session, experiencing the decision-making process and collaboration that goes into serving the community.

It was a great day of learning, discussion, and gaining a better understanding of how city and county leaders work together to keep Muskogee moving forward!

May 14: Public Service Day

Leadership Muskogee Class 32 completed their final session before graduation with an impactful day focused on Public Service! Throughout the day, the class gained valuable insight into the critical roles that keep our community safe, informed, and prepared.

Participants heard from an outstanding lineup of local leaders and professionals, including Police Chief Johnny Teehee, Storm Chaser Von Castor, Laurel Havens, and Dr. Jerri Stoutermire, along with representatives from Muskogee City and County Emergency Management. Speakers shared their experiences, challenges, and the importance of leadership during times of crisis and service.

The class also had the opportunity to tour the Muskogee County Jail and hear from Sheriff Andy Simmons about the day-to-day operations and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office. The session concluded with a visit to the Muskogee Police Fire Range, giving participants a firsthand look at the training and preparation involved in protecting our community.

June 10: Graduation

Watching you grow, connect, and develop as leaders has been inspiring, and we hope your Leadership Muskogee experience was as rewarding and memorable for you as it was for us.
