Papilion: April 12, 1945 Muskogee Tornado and other storied

First-hand accounts written by survivors of the tornado, and written by Thomas family members, who lost 3 homes the day their soldiers were to return from World War II. Janis Thomas Cramer, a former English and Creative Writing teacher at MHS (Janis Lowrance), will be reading from her book about growing up in Muskogee in the 1950s and 60s, Growing Up Thomas. Her brother, Greg Thomas, will read from their father’s book about World War II, Adventures of a Thunderbird. Their cousin, Gene Lehmann, will read his father’s book, An Okie from Muskogee Recalls Growing Up in the Dirty Thirties. Reception and Papilion garden tulip viewing at starting at 5:45pm. Reading at 6:30pm. Books available for sale in the Papilion Gift Shop. No admission fee. Donations always accepted.
