Belle Starr Remembered

Special Speaker: Stephen Dillwyn Christian, who plays the prosecuting Attorney from Ft. Smith in the “Trial of Belle and Sam Starr” will re-enact some highlights from the actual trial in 1883. He will share the highlights from the courtroom transcripts.
There will be costumed characters who will share tales from Belle Starr’s life and talk about her legacy.
There will be a showing of the documentary made by Dr. Ron Hood and Donna Stiles Hood called “The Legend of Belle Starr’s last ride”. The Hoods have renovated Belle’s gravesite and replicated her cabin at Youngers Bend, her last homeplace.
You can also see Belle’s original headstone, gun and saddle which is housed here at the museum.
There will be light refreshments so come out and enjoy this free event. We encourage you to come dressed in period costume.
