Our Mission
The Main Street mission is one of historic preservation and economic revitalization. Downtown Muskogee strives to create and maintain a beautiful, functional business core which preserves and celebrates our culture and history while it builds an economically robust future.
Our ideals can be summed up in three words: people, planet, prosperity. We will foster a sense of community built upon a strong foundation of our rich history and cultural diversity which we will respect and preserve. Our actions will be based in good characterand built upon an atmosphere of friendliness, caring, courtesy and respect. We will strive for quality, civility, compassion and responsibility toward our families, our neighbors, our guests and our environment.
Our Approach
Our mission will be achieved by using the Four-Point Approach that was designed and implemented by the National Main Street Program.
Organization:
This committee will recruit volunteers to help the Main Street program with events and its day-to-day operations. Volunteers are the lifeblood of this program and without their help and support the program would not be able to achieve success.
Promotion:
We want visitors to venture downtown for shopping and to dine in our eateries and restaurants. The goal of the Promotions Committee is to highlight and draw visitors and residents downtown. This will be achieved by holding family-oriented events in the downtown. The promotions committee also will help merchants bring in foot traffic with special retail events.
Economic Restructuring:
Our Economic Restructuring Committee will gather data that will assist Muskogee in bringing new businesses downtown. This committee will actively recruit new merchants to give our downtown a unique flair and feel. The Economic Restructuring Committee will work with building owners to offer incentive that will bring in the new merchants and help them be successful.
Design:
The design or "look and feel" of the downtown area is a huge factin in attracting new businesses, shoppers and tourists. This committee will work with many groups in order to keep the downtown beautiful and clean. The Design Committee will work with merchants and building owners to renovated their facades or storefronts.
Join Us!
Membership in Downtown Muskogee, Inc. enables you to partner with other concerned Muskogee citizens who want to see Muskogee's historic downtown prosper. Our two-fold goal of historic preservation and economic revitalization can only be reached when caring and passionate individuals, property owners, civic leaders, and business owners join together to make a difference.
